|Successful families are the building blocks of a successful society. When abuse, behavioral and psychological problems render families dysfunctional, the victims are the children and, ultimately, society. At Youth Villages, a private nonprofit organization, our mission is to help emotionally troubled children and families live successfully. What Services Youth Villages Offers|
Youth Villages’ services include home-based counseling, therapeutic foster care, adoption, residential treatment, group homes and family-based care for children with severe developmental disabilities. Youth Villages and its programs are accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations.
Youth Villages’ range of programs is designed to best treat the issues children and adolescents face, including depression, developmental disabilities, emotional and behavioral problems, attention deficit disorder, unruly or delinquent behavior and physical and sexual abuse.
Youth Villages accepts referrals from psychiatrists, parents, judges and social workers and works in partnership with the child welfare departments in the states we serve.
Youth Villages is a private nonprofit organization dedicated to helping emotionally and behaviorally troubled children and their families live successfully. We help more than 20,000 children and families each year from more than 20 states and Washington, D.C. Our Evidentiary Family Restoration™ approach involves intensive work with the child and family, a focus on measuring outcomes, keeping children in the community whenever safely possible, and providing accountability to families and funders. The EFR approach produces lasting success for children with success rates twice that of traditional services at one-third the cost of traditional care.
While we help children from birth to age 22, the majority of the children who receive services from Youth Villages are between 12 and 17. Children are placed with us because of emotional and behavioral disorders, physical or sexual abuse, substance abuse or suicidal ideation or attempt. Eighty percent of Youth Villages’ children have multiple problems, which may include developmental or learning disabilities.
Although admission requirements vary based on the individual program, generally speaking, we treat:
Hard-to-help, hard-to-place children; children who have failed at numerous other programs often find success here
Children with emotional and behavioral problems plus co-occurring medical issues
Children who have severe acting out behaviors
Boys and girls, ages 7-18
Children with Verbal IQ 50 and above
Children with problem sexual behaviors
Emotionally disturbed children with developmental delays or disabilities
Children who are medically fragile
Whether it’s helping teens live independently upon aging out of state custody, restoring families through intensive in-home services, or providing temporary placements for children in crisis, Youth Villages is a dynamic force for families across the United States.Founded in the merger of two residential treatment campuses in 1986, Youth Villages now offers a complete continuum of programs and services with one goal in mind: building strong families.
From the beginning, Youth Villages has worked to find and implement evidence-based treatment models that dramatically improve the chances of long-term success. Its research team obsessively collects data and measures outcomes to ensure their effectiveness.
As a leader in the field of children’s mental health, Youth Villages earns its status as one of the nation’s most promising results-oriented nonprofits, as recognized by Harvard Business School, U.S. News & World Report, and the White House.
